Ta Rē Moriori Resources
We have resources to suit all learning styles, from books and rongo to webinar series.
Tupukapuka Rongo
With support from Te Mātāwai’s investment programme, we created Rongo: ACollection of Moriori Songs. This book, a labour of love, serves as a bridge, connecting the Moriori community to their rich cultural identity through the power of song.Moriori music forms part of the tapestry of cultural identity that captures the natural environment, traditions, storytelling and karakī. These have been woven into rhythms and melodies, creating a harmonious expression and deep connection to ta ao Moriori. The book, compiled by Deborah Goomes with assistance from Kiwa Hammond, aids the retention of Moriori culture and identity and aims to strengthen the legacy for future generations.
